EghtesadOnline: Iran's Parliament Speaker said on Monday the capacities created following the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action should be fully exploited in development of ports.

Special care should be given to the development of ports and enhancement of the country's maritime sector in devising general policies and especially in the Sixth National Development Plan, Larijani said during a meeting with high-ranking officials from the Ports and Maritime Organization of Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Post-JCPOA era has created a suitable opportunity for the country to attract investments and boost other sectors such as ports and maritime domains as well, IRNA quoted him as saying.

While in the country's Sixth National Development Plan the main focus tends to be given to the development of Mokran coastal areas, but the prospects of the national plan should be reviewed carefully in order to earmark annual budgets for it, he said.

To achieve the goal, the grounds should be well prepared in order to involve the private sector, Larijani said.

We should increase the volume of foreign investments to achieve the eight percent economic growth sought by the government and the parliament is ready to create suitable grounds to this end, Larijani said.

Unfortunately, the state-run organizations have taken up the entire sea shore areas and there is no room for people and tourists to take advantage of tourist attractions in Iran's southern shores, he said.

The current status of environment at sea shores is very terrible as the Persian Gulf littoral states are using desalination plants which operation has increased salt levels in the sea water and this should be pursued through international organizations, he said.

Caring and protecting ports should be among the government's agenda to help optimum use of sea shores, Larijani said.
