Tehran, Seoul keen on cultural, arts, tourism cooperation

EghtesadOnline: Minister of Culture and the Islamic Guidance, Ali Jannati, said on Saturday that Tehran and Seoul are bent on expansion of cultural, arts and tourism cooperation.

Jannati made the remarks in a meeting with South Korean Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) Kwan-Joo Chung.

Jannati said that Iran-South Korea relations are excellent and on a growing trend over the past two or three decades, reports IRNA.

Jannati said that recent visit of South Korean President to Tehran was a turning point in bilateral relations.

He said that the agreements signed during the visit of South korean president to Tehran served to resume the political, economic, social, and cultural ties after lifting the sanctions.

He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to expand ties with East Asian states and Iran gave priority to cooperation with South Korea.

He went on to say that scientific and educational relations between Iran and South Korea date back long ago and regarding establishment of cultural centers in Tehran and Seoul, it can further expand in cultural and arts domains.

He made clear that the cultural, educational and sports contracts have been signed by the two countries in line with the MoU which is the roadmap of the two countries' cultural, educational and sports programs for the next two to three years.

Jannati said South Korea is a successful country in economic domain. 

'In the past two decades, the country has gained remarkable progress on economy and on commercial and trade domains, Iran and South Korea enjoy satisfactory relations with each other.'

The visiting South Korean minister said that solidarity and cultural and arts cooperation between the two countries will prepare the ground for economic and political relations between the two governments and nations.

He said holding cultural and arts ceremonies and festivals would help boost acquaintance of artists with customs of the two nations.

He said that South Korea has designated next year as the year of exchanges between Iran and South Korea.

'I hope relations between Iran and South Korea will further expand in various domains.'
