He stated that Dousti (Friendship) satellite built by the students of Sharif University of Technology is the first satellite which will be launched by the end of this year (started on March), according to ISNA.
Bahrami underlined that all efforts are being made to place AmirKabir and Nahid1 satellite into orbit by the end of next year, adding the satellites are more operational and advanced than their predecessors.
He also referred to Zafar (Triumph) satellite, and said some changes will be applied in the contract of this satellite before it is ready to be launched.
The satellites would transmit images of the Earth’s surface to ground stations. According to the previous speeches, Zafar was supposed to be sent into a geostationary orbit, which is a circular orbit around 22,320 miles (36,000 kilometers) above the Earth’s equator. The satellite will reportedly have a lifespan of one year and six months, and will capture images and transmit them to stations on earth.
