Iran, Germany to develop cooperation on environment

EghtesadOnline: Vice-President and head of Department of Environment Ma'soumeh Ebtekar is to visit Germany to sign a document on environment cooperation between DoE and German Ministry of Environment.

Director of office for the international affairs and conventions of DoE Majid Shafipour said that cooperation on environment, natural resources, protection of national parks and protected area, protection of the earth atmosphere through confrontation with climate change, assessment for improvement of the environmental affects, protection for marine environment and littoral regions, management of water and soil pollution, actions to confront with desertification and promotion of innovative and sustainable technologies are among the most important points of the document, reports IRNA.

He said that Ebtekar is to visit BASF and Potsdam plants in Germany during her 2-day stay.

Ebtekar is scheduled to meet and discusses issues of mutual interests with German Minister of Environment Barbara Hendricks, Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, government chief climate advisor and Vice-Speaker of German parliament Claudia Roth.

She is also to attend conference on introducing cooperation opportunity with German companies on environment and an interview with Der Spiegel weekly news magazine.
