MP: Strengthening Iran, France ties to benefit both nations

EghtesadOnline: Strengthening relations between Iran and France, as two important and influential countries, is to the benefit of both nations, says the head of Iran's Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

Aladdin Boroujerdi made the remarks in a meeting on Wednesday with French Ambassador to Tehran Francois Senemaud.

Senemaud was visiting Boroujerdi to talk about the expected visit to France by the Iranian parliamentary delegation at the invitation of the head of foreign and defense commission of France Senate, according to IRNA.

During the meeting, Boroujerdi said that the specialized commissions and friendship groups in Iran's parliament are ready to help promote friendly ties between the two countries in all areas.

He added that by increasing mutual visits the two countries could effectively foster reciprocal understanding and recognize potential capacities and commonalties between the two nations.

The senior member of parliament underlined important role of parliamentary exchanges and added that during his visit to France, he will discuss different issues concerning regional developments and also the role the two countries could play in confronting terrorism and extremism as well as addressing regional problems.

The French ambassador, on his part, referred to the growing cooperation between Iran and France, and said that Paris deems as important mutual ties between the two countries based on respect and understanding.

Paris is interested to develop ties with Tehran in all areas based on mutual interests and use all the capacities to further ties with the Islamic Republic, Senemaud said.
