EghtesadOnline: Head of Iran-Australia Joint Economic meeting in Alborz Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture Masoud Qassemi said on Saturday that Iran is willing to expand economic cooperation wth Australia.

To attain the goal, the two sides should spare no efforts to broaden mutual ties and make proper use of economic potentials of one another, he said.

Ties and cooperation between Iran and Australia experienced many ups and downs during the economic sanctions over the past three years, Qassemi said.

Iran spared no efforts to make maximum use of sanctions to move national economy and keep up with the global economic developments, he said.

During economic sanctions, Iran faced many hurdles and obstacles, Qassemi said.

The literature of sanctions should change and Iran must go ahead with free commerce to advance the country's status at international level, he said.

With reliance on the atmosphere created after implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran works to bolster friendly ties with the world, he said.

Economic delegations from foreign countries such as Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, France, Croatia, Estonia, Portuguese, Taiwan and India have visited Alborz province, he said.

There are some 3,500 small and medium-size producing and industrial units in Alborz province.

In the context of Iran-Australia joint economic meeting, the businessmen and industrialists exchanged views on various economic issues as well as removal of obstacles to develop trade and economic cooperation.
