Aide: Tehran paying heavy price for regional stability, security

EghtesadOnline: Top adviser of the Iranian parliament speaker Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Sunday that Tehran is paying a heavy price to provide stability and security in the region.

The parliament speaker's special advisor for international affairs made the remarks in a meeting with special envoy of Singapore parliament speaker to Tehran Ung Kong Yung.

According to IRNA, Amir-Abdollahian said that security in Iran may be considered as a model for sustainable security in other regional states.

He added that increasing visits between officials of the two countries would be an effective element in creation of mutual understanding and also getting familiar with potential capacities of the two countries.

Strengthening bilateral ties between Iran and Singapore, as two important and influential countries is going to benefit both nations, he said.

Amir-Abdollahian said that the Islamic Republic parliament, especially its specialized commissions, is ready for cooperation and development of ties in all fields.

Amir-Abdollahian Elaborating on regional developments and the need for fighting terrorism insisted finding a political solution for regional problems.

'Iran has always underlined that only a political solution emanating from people's determination is acceptable,' he said.

Ung Kong Yung, on his part, referred to growing cooperation between Iran and Singapore and said that relations based on mutual respect and understanding and common interests are important for Singapore.

He added that Iran has an important position in the west of Asia and the country's big market is very attractive to other states.

The Singaporean official also submitted letter of invitation of Singapore speaker of House of Representatives for his counterpart Ali Larijani and called for parliamentary delegation visits in different levels.
