Iran President calls for revival of Malaysia ties

EghtesadOnline: President Hassan Rouhani in a joint press conference with the Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak on Friday called for revival of bilateral ties between Iran and the southeast Asia nation.

Rouhani said that the two countries plan to revive ties to the previous level and after that double the level of cooperation, reports IRNA.

There are good potential for enhancement of cooperation between the two countries particularly for the private sectors in the two nations to exploit opportunities created in the post-sanctions era, he noted.

Iran welcomes Malaysian companies which are active in the fields of oil, gas and petrochemicals as well as the Halal food industry, President Rouhani added.

He also referred to the scientific, technological, academic and tourism potential Iran and Malaysia could exploit to further bilateral ties.

The Iranian President also called for unity among various followers of Islamic sects and urged all countries to do their best to fight terrorism as a common threat.
