Syria has great capacity for promoting proximity in Islamic world: Senior official

Talking to IRNA, he added that Syria has a distinguished status geographically, scientifically and culturally. The country is in the resistance front against the arrogant powers and the Zionist regime on one hand and enjoys brilliant talents specializing in Islamic faiths on the other.

The country's scholars have a long history in the scientific and religious spheres and if concerted efforts are made, Syria can turn into a center for enhancing proximity across the world, Araki said.

Referring to the activities of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in Syria, the cleric added that the entity has held talks with the Syrian officials and proposed programs in this respect.

Since the enemy is aware of Syria's role in the Islamic world, it has taken aim at the country, he said.

Drawing analogy between Syria and other neighboring states, Araki said that Syria is more cultural and historical, and has scientific capacities.

What is happening in the country promises that it will eventually achieve victory and peace and calm will restore to it.
