EghtesadOnline: Three movies from Iranian filmmakers will compete in the 18th Mumbai Film Festival due to be held October 20-27.

Asghar Farhadi’s “The Salesman”, and Reza Dormishian’s “Lantouri” will compete in world section of the festival and Abbass Amini’s “Valderrama” will make an appearance in Mumbai as Half Ticket, specified for the youth related movies.

Asghar Farhadi’s The Salesman competed for the Palme d’Or at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. At Cannes, Shahab Hosseini won the award for Best Actor and Asghar Farhadi won the award for Best Screenplay. It was selected as the Iranian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards, reports ISNA.

Valderrama has also been nominated for the best first film of a director award in one section of Berlin Film Festival. It is about an Iranian boy in the southwestern city of Abadan whose conspicuous curly blond hair resembles the famous Colombian former football player Carlos Valderrama, so he is called by the same name.

And Iranian film Lantouri is a 2016 Iranian drama film directed by Reza Dormishian. It was shown in the Panorama section at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival.

These three Iranian films by well-known directors will be screened in 18th Mumbai Film festival, an International Film Festival held in Mumbai each year. It previews new films of all genres from around the world with a range of Competitions and Showcase categories.
