Iranian wrestlers win medals in world university championship

EghtesadOnline: Iranian young wrestlers succeeded to win two medals in the 12th edition of the World University Wrestling Championship in Turkey.

Iranians, once again, take pride in their young athletes. Farshad Issavand managed to secure a silver medal and Boroumand Aslan succeeded to overcome his Ukrainian rival and received the bronze medal.

The 12th edition of the World University Wrestling Championship started in Corum, Turkey, on October 25 and finished today.

Young wrestlers from different countries including Belarus, Canada, Finland, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia and Turkey participated in the contest. Earlier in the event, Iranian freestyle wrestlers received five gold medals and also three bronzes.

Reza Afzali in the 74-kilogram, Mohammad Javad Ebrahimi in the 86-kilogram, Younes Sarmasti in the 57-kilogram category, Reza Mousavi in the 125-kilogram, and Amir Mohammadi in the 97-kilogram sections succeeded to get gold medals.

Mehran Nasiri, Meysam Heydari and Hamed Rashidi also won bronze medals for Iran in the 61-kilogram, 65-kilogram and 70-kilogram categories respectively.
