EghtesadOnline: A senior archaeologist said a huge amount of Iranian archaeological works have been discovered in the Iraqi Kurdistan province of Dohok.

Yousef Fallahian said the historical works are related to Iran's Achaemenid (559-330 BCE) and Sassanid (226 - 652 AD) eras.

Fallahian said the excavation operation has been conducted in collaboration with the German University of Tuebingen with several archaeologists from Germany, Italy, UK, France and Iran.

According to IRNA, he added the excavation was mainly focused in Iraq, Turkey and Syria joint border areas and alongside the Khabur and Tigrs rivers in Iraq.

Fallahian underscored that the margins of the rivers had been favorable for human life in prehistoric and historic periods.
