Zarif was speaking during a meeting in Tehran with visiting Cypriot parliament Speaker Demetris Syllouris.
Noting that Cyprus is an old friend of Iran, Zarif said that the friendship between the two countries dates as back as decades.
According to IRNA, the foreign minister expressed hope that cooperation between Iran and Cyprus would grow to cover tourism and scientific areas.
The Cypriot parliament speaker, for his part, said that his country is ready to expand bilateral relations with Iran in all areas.
The two sides also discussed regional issues including the ongoing crisis in Syria.
