National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) had earlier announced that it has resumed transferring about 27 million cubic meters to Turkey as the initial volume, adding it is predicted that it would increase to the contract level within the next hours, reports ISNA.
According to the official website of NIGC, the gas export had stopped Thursday night as the gas carrying pipelines were blown up in Turkish territory by Turkish opposition.
According to the website, Turkish Butas Company had announced that they would remove the problem soon.
Turkey is the second supplier of gas after Russia, providing one-fifth of the country’s consumption. The current volume of natural gas that Iran is piping to its northwestern neighbor is 30 million cubic meters per day.
Iran’s export of natural gas Turkey has increased up to 8.8 percent. The country has exported more than650 million cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey so far.
