Ghasemi expressed hope that Aoun’s election as the President of Lebanon can contribute to democracy and stability in the country, adding that holding presidential election in Lebanon is considered a significant step in the country.
He stressed the importance of this election in the midst of regional crisis and said Lebanon and Iran can develop mutual ties in near future, according to ISNA.
Aoun was elected after four rounds of voting during the session.He secured the presidency by winning the support of 83 out of 127 MPs, well above the absolute majority of 65 needed to win.
