Iran VP, Turkish minister meet in Ankara

EghtesadOnline: Iran's Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi held talks with Turkish Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya in Istanbul on Wednesday.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the sixth session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) Women Conference in Istanbul.

Touching upon Iran rapid and firm stance toward the recent failed coup in Turkey, Molaverdi stressed that Iran has always stood by Turkey in hard times. 

According to IRNA, she also expressed hope that the level of mutual trade transaction could hit $30 billion in near future. 

Commenting on expansion of mutual relations at the regional and international levels, Molaverdi emphasized the need for expansion of Iran, Turkey cooperation as two members of OIC for settlement of regional and Islamic world problems. 

Molaverdi also invited the Turkish minister to pay an official visit to Tehran in near future.

Sayan Kaya, for her part called for expansion of mutual cooperation in cultural, political and economic arenas. 

Molaverdi arrived in the Turkish city of Istanbul late on Monday (Oct 31) to attend the OIC women conference that was held on Nov 1-3.

Ministers of 56 member countries of the OIC attended the meeting.

Also, top representatives from different international bodies which are active in the area of women also took part in the meeting.
