Supporting Syria, Iran’s strategic decision: Deputy FM

EghtesadOnline: Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs met with Syrian deputy-FM Faisal Mekdad and discussed the latest developments in the region including Syria.

Mekdad referred to the issue of terrorism all across the world including the Middle East region and stated that the West would not take significant steps to fight against Daesh terrorist group, ISNA reported.

He underlined that the West is pursuing its interfering goals through the issue, adding terrorist mutual enemy which must be eliminated.

Syrian official appreciated Iran’s all-out support for Syria and emphasized the importance of regional and international cooperation to get rid of the current situation.

Hossein Jaberi Ansari for his part stressed the necessity of taking fundamental steps to stand against terrorism, and said some regional and international sides follow dangerous strategies to reach their treacherous goals.

Faisal Mekdad, who had arrived in Tehran on Sunday evening, held talks with Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and also the parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.

Both sides stressed the importance of bolstering mutual ties in different sectors and also underlined the significance of finding solution for the regional issues.

His trip came following the invitation of Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs, which mostly aims at holding Iran, Syria joint political committee’s meeting in Tehran.
