EghtesadOnline: Iran is safely guiding an average of 1,100 passing planes through its air space, an official said.

Mohammad Amirani who is the director general of communications and navigation affairs in Iran Airports Company told IRNA on Saturday that maintaining and increasing the number of passing flights through the Iranian air space is quite a complicated process as companies are very keen to pick direct routes because they result in remarkable cut of costs.

For the same reason, he noted, Iraqi government has already set up several direct flights to encourage airway companies to use its air space.

He said Iran, too, is seeking to renovate its automation systems as a pre-requisite for establishment of new direct routes for international passing planes.

By removal of unfair sanctions, the official added, ground is now prepared for purchase of equipment needed by the Iranian aviation industries.

He said many European countries have already voiced interest in collaborating with Iran in this regard.
