Iran, Azerbaijan discuss settlement of banking issues

EghtesadOnline: Minster of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi said on Thursday that during his two-day visit to Azerbaijan he had discussed settlement of banking issues with top-ranking Azeri officials.

Speaking to IRNA upon return from his Baku visit, Vaezi said he had also discussed providing the finance needed for commissioning a project for building rail bridge between Rasht in northern Iran and Astara in Azerbaijan Republic. 

Vaezi, also the Iranian head of Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, said the volume of trade between the two countries has increased by 75% since the past commission session. 

The minister said he and Azeri officials had fruitful talks on building a pharmaceutical plant and a hospital by Iran in Azerbaijan Republic and launching a joint auto-making plant in Azerbaijan's Neftchala city. 

Vaezi had travelled to Baku to attend the 29th Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technology Exhibition and Conference (Bakutel 2016). 

During his two-day visit to Baku, the Iranian minister met with a number of top-ranking Azeri officials, including President Ilham Aliyev.
