EghtesadOnline: Deputy interior minister for security affairs has said that a three-member terrorist team has recently been identified and demolished across the Iranian borders.

The terrorist team who wanted to enter the country through the borders were smashed by the Iranian security and intelligence forces, Hossein Zolfaqari told reporters here on Wednesday.

Zolfaqari further appreciated the country's Ministry of Intelligence for its vigilance during that security operation, according to IRNA.

About the security of the Nov 20 Arbaeen mourning ceremony in Iraq in which over two million Iranians took part, the official announced that 20 Takfiri terrorist groups affiliated to Daesh were identified during the Arbaeen period.

They were equipped for terrorist operations but their plots were foiled by the vigilant Iraqi security forces, the official noted.

Talking of the terrorist attack in Iraq that killed over 70 Iranian pilgrims three days after the Arbaeen ceremony, Zolfaqari said providing security for 20 millions of pilgrims is not a simple work; however, ensuring security during a 20-day period in Iraq which is a country that some of its regions are polluted by terrorists was a great job.

Further, the official rejected the speculations that Mehran border in west of Iran had been closed due to Arbaeen ceremony.

He went on to say that Iran is following up the visa removal for the Iranians to attend the annual Arbaeen rituals.

Arbaeen is a Shia Muslim religious observance that occurs forty days after the Day of Ashura to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and the third Imam of Shia Muslims.
