EghtesadOnline: ‘Anna-Karin Jatko’ Director General of Swedish Export Credit Guarantee Board stresses that there is no limit to issuing export guarantee to Iran.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA , she said, 'We are a government agency and we guarantee Swedish export and our first guarantee to Iran was issued in 1951. We have a very long and positive track record with guarantee in Swedish exports to Iran.
We have had a very substantial and increasing interest from Swedish and Iranian companies; we have so far issued offers of guarantees in the range of half a billion Euro and we have contracts amounting to about a hundred million Euros.

This is an area where we are very hopeful that the long term positive experience which we have of trade with Iran will flourish.

The following is excerpts of the interview:

Q. Is there any limits to your Export guarantee with Iran?

A. Unlike some of the other export credit agencies, we have no limits; what we do is assesing every deal on its merits and every country on its merits. So we have no limits for exports to Iran.

Last year we did our biggest deal ever which wasn’t with Iran, but we have no formal limitation on deals with specific countries.

Q. What has been the significance of JCPOA?

A. We opened for renewing guarantees two days after the sanctions were lifted and we immediately saw a substantial surge in interest from Swedish companies and both Swedish companies who historically had trading relations with Iran but also companies that are now looking for maybe the first time at Iranian market.

Q. What is your future outlook for trade relationship with Iran?

A. We are hoping that Swedish companies will be able to export substantially in the future to Iran which was the case before the sanctions.

Our business with Iran before 2012 was substantial and I am looking ahead hoping that we will ensure that Swedish companies have the possibility of exporting to Iran.
Iran was one of our most important markets before 2012

Q. What is your opinion about Donald Trump victory and the impact this would have on trade relations with Iran?

A. It is early days yet, […] ; we need to see what will happen in the future but we are obviously hoping that the potential of the Swedish export to Iran will be fully realized.
