EghtesadOnline: Representative of Iranian Assyrians at the Parliament Yonatan Betkolia said on Tuesday religious minorities in Iran enjoy complete freedom.

Speaking in a local gathering in the Islamic Human Rights Commission on Human Rights Day, Betkolia said that the freedoms are to such an extent that they are not comparable with any in other countries.

Assyrian MP underscored that in a country where different religious and ethnic groups are living together peacefully, unity would forge the diversity of these groups, IRNA reported.

Commenting on the destruction of 80 percent of churches in Iraq and Syria, he added Assyrian churches are considered as a cultural heritage in Urmia city in West Azarbaijan.

Assyrian MP concluded as saying that he is proud to be an Iranian.
