Iran, Indonesia Eye $2b in Bilateral Trade

EghtesadOnline: Iran and Indonesia intend to reach $2 billion in bilateral trade next year, said Iran’s minister of communications and information technology. Mahmoud Vaezi was speaking at a joint economic forum in Tehran on Thursday.

Heading a high-ranking economic delegation, Indonesian President Joko Widodo arrived in Tehran on Tuesday. On Wednesday, several memoranda of understanding for cooperation in a wide range of fields, including banking, stock exchange, oil, paper and foodstuff, were signed between Iran and Indonesia’s chambers of commerce, IRNA reported. According to Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Iran-Indonesia trade amounted to $273 million in 2015. During the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 20-October 21, 2016), Iran’s exports to Indonesia stood at over $73.7 million. Imports amounted to more than $82.9 million.
