EghtesadOnline: President Hassan Rouhani said strengthening of ties with the Latin American countries is a fundamental principle in the Iranian foreign policy.

President Rouhani made the remarks during a ceremony to receive the credentials of the new Ecuadorian Ambassador to Tehran Germán Alejandro Ortega Almeida.

Iran has good friendly relations with most of the Latin American states including Ecuador, President Rouhani said at the ceremony on Saturday, IRNA reported.

Referring to the same views Iran and Ecuador share in many international and regional questions, President Rouhani described the great powers' interference and their unilateral approach as the main causes of instability in different parts of the world.

He further stressed the importance of expanding South–South Cooperation and activating the global bodies like Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

The Iranian president also noted that Tehran and Quito should make efforts to develop scientific, cultural, economic and trade relations.

'Iran sees no obstacles on its way to widen ties with Ecuador,' the president noted.
For his part, the new Ecuadorian ambassador said Quito-Tehran ties have always been friendly and growing.

Ortega Almeida underlined that the two countries should boost all-out cooperation.
