The Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade had set a deadline demanding that auto importers must get official permits from the parent companies they buy from and represent. After nine months some of the major brands operating in Iran, namely BMW Perisa, have not yet obtained the certifications, Mizan Online News Agency reported. Iranian BMW officials had said last week they are in talks with the parent company but had not yet obtained the permits, according to Financial Tribune. No further details were available. The report did not mention the names of other companies; however, it said that the ten companies were those which used to operate in Iran through “intermediary companies.” Ali Amanat, the deputy of guilds’ affairs at the ministry said he will be meeting with the car importers who have not yet obtained the official documentations. Major brands imported into Iran include Hyundai, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Renault, Porsche and Volvo, to name a few.
