70 reportedly wounded in Tehran Plasco Building fire

EghtesadOnline: The big fire broke out earlier in the day in the high-rise Plasco Building in the capital, resulting in its total collapse, has left 70 injured, says Director of the Public Relation department for Tehran Emergency Center.

According to Hassan Abbasi, 23 wounded people have been transferred to the hospital due to their severe injuries.

The remaining 47 who had minor injuries received emergency aid at the site, Abbasi said.

According to IRNA, he further noted that all the hospitals in Tehran are on alert. 

So far no report has been revealed on the number of casualties.

The fire started in the 17-storey business building in the early hours on Thursday. It remains unclear how the fire began.

The business building was built in the early 1960s and it was the tallest building in the city at the time of its construction.

A large number of businesses in the building are believed to be involved in the textile and garment industries.
