EghtesadOnline: Iran, Russia and Turkey are working towards establishing a commission for overseeing the execution of the agreement on cessation of hostilities in Syria.

As the three regional nations initiating a ceasefire in Syria and pushing for Syria peace talks in Astana, Iran, Russia and Turkey explored on Tuesday, on the sidelines of the trilateral meeting on the Syrian peace process, how to put in place needed mechanisms to oversee the ceasefire and the agreement on the cessation of hostilities in Syria.

The proposed commission is expected to guarantee the implementation of the ceasefire deal agreed on 29 December and endorsed by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian and Turkish counterparts Sergey Lavrov and Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in the Moscow meeting on Syria, IRNA reported.

The International Meeting on Syrian Settlement launched on Monday is expected to end today with Staffan de Mistura, the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria reading the joint statement of the two-day meeting.
