EghtesadOnline: Nabila Massrali, spokeswoman for EU foreign-policy chief Federica Mogherini said on Wednesday that the Iranian ballistic-missile program was not part of the 2015 nuclear pact with world powers and “hence the tests are not a violation of it.”

Talking to reporters in Brussels, she said that it was up to the top UN body to determine if they contravened its resolution 2231 on ballistic technology, Bloomberg wrote.

Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi also has announced that missile tests are inherent and indisputable right of Iran to defend its security and national interests, IRNA reported.

No country or international institute is authorized to pass comments on the issue, underlining that testing ballistic missiles by Iran corresponds to its indisputable rights and international commitments.

“Iran’s missile programs have merely defensive nature and none of ballistic missiles have been designed to have potential to carry nuclear warhead,” he said, noting that the issue lies outside Resolution 2231 of the United Nations Security Council.
