Iran elected as president of OPCW’s Asian branch

EghtesadOnline: Iran has been unanimously elected as the Asian branch president of Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague.

During the session of OPCW which was held on Monday headed by Pakistani ambassador, Iranian ambassador in Netherlands AlirezaJahangiri has been unanimously elected as the new president of the group.

According to ISNA, Pakistan assumed the presidency of the Asian branch of OPCW from 2004.

During the session, all Asian and Arab member states affirmed Iran as the best option and suggested that Iran presidency of Non-Aligned Movement is an appropriate experience of Tehran’s interaction with other countries in order to advance the Asian branch’s goals in OPCW.
