80% of Basic Goods Imports Via Imam Khomeini Port

EghtesadOnline: About 80% of Iran’s imports of basic commodities are carried out at Imam Khomeini Port in the southern Khuzestan Province, managing director of Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran, Mohammad Saeednejad, said.

“Imam Khomeini Port and Hormozgan Province’s Shahid Rajaie Port account for 80% of the total throughput of Iranian ports, which is 140 million tons per year,” he said.

According to Financial Tribune, Saeednejad noted that as many as 8,000 people work in Imam Khomeini Port, adding that private sector investments in this southern Iranian port have reached 3.8 trillion rials ($99.08 million) in the current Iranian year (March 2016-17), Mehr News Agency reported.
