EghtesadOnline: Mitsubishi’s FUSO Truck and Bus Corporation is set to expand its market share in Iran through a local representative called Mayan Group.

Mayan will import medium and heavy duty FUSO trucks in the form of completely built units, the local automotive website, Persian Khodro reported on February 17.

The company’s sales director, Majid Madani defined  fuel efficiency as one of the advantages of FUSO vehicles compared to its rivals in the local market – including the Chinese-derived trucks.

He said “Mayan is set to expand its collaboration with FUSO. The company will assemble the trucks in the future.”

According to Financial Tribune, Madani also said the local price for three newly imported trucks will be 1.2 billion rials ($31,600) for the five-ton truck, 1.28 billion rials ($33,700) for the six-ton truck, and 1.38 billion rials ($36,300) for eight-ton truck.

FUSO is one of Asia’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers. In January 2016, the company announced that it will enter the Iranian market as part of Daimler Trucks’ sales strategy.

However its main distributor will be Mayan which is also part of the Mammut Group. Mammut also recently announced it will begin production of Scania buses and trucks in Iran.
