Carmania’s director, Dariush Salimi announced the deal and said, “Carmania is set to import a wide range of TEMSA branded coaches, buses and minibuses,” Pedal News a local automotive website reported.
The vehicles will be modified to meet the needs of the local market. Carmania also has an agreement with the Turkish company for buying spare parts.
Report of the deal came as Carmania Arvand showed a large imported Safir VIP coach at this week's Tehran Auto Show, making it the first Turkish firm to attend the annual event, Financial Tribune reported.
Initially, the coaches and buses will be imported in the form of completely built units (CBU).
Salimi said his company is talking with the local bus company Shahab Khodro to produce the Turkish buses in Iran.
Salimi estimated the final price of the Safir luxury coaches to be about 8.5 billion rials ($223,000) per piece.
TEMSA is a bus and light truck manufacturer based in Adana, Turkey. The company is part of the Sabanci Group, a large Turkish industrial and commercial conglomerate.
The vehicles have their own bodywork and include Mitsubishi Fuso, MAN, DAF, Cummins and Caterpillar engines and parts that meet the European emission standards (Euro4, Euro5).
TEMSA's Adana plant has an annual production capacity of 11,500 vehicles. The company currently exports vehicles to the US, France, and Poland among other countries.
