EghtesadOnline: Cultural works belonging to the third millennium BC were discovered on the surface and during speculation operations, said the head of the speculation team of stratigraphy and proposing the limits of Dembe Kooh in the port city of Chabahar.

The Public Relations Office of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism (RICHT) quoted Morteza Hesari as saying that in initial study it was found out that the actual range of the area is much wider than what has been registered before, IRNA reported.

The area was registered in the list of national areas in 1381 (2002-2003).

“The speculation for stratigraphy and proposing the limits of Dembe Kooh in the port city of Chabahar is a joint plan between the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism and Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department of Sistan and Baluchestan,” Hesari said.

He added tha a number of stone graves have been discovered during the explorations and about 160 hectares of land has undergone topography.

“Those types of graves and cultural findings can be compared with the samples that previously expected to exist only in the southern part of the Persian Gulf such as the Emirates, Qatar and Oman and even variety of the works and their number is even more than the southern littoral states of the Persian Gulf,” the official said.

Referring to the continuation of explorations, he said that survey for identification of pattern of distribution of the settlements in the coastal region and the bank in the area as well as anthropology in four villages of the region were accomplished.
