EghtesadOnline: The Central Bank of Iran has released the government's income from taxes in the automotive sector for the nine-month period ending December 20, 2016.

The data has been released by the CBI and is part of a more comprehensive chart on the government's public budget.

In the nine-month period, the government earned 11.4 trillion rials ($300 million) from taxes on auto imports. This accounted for 1.7% of the total government budget, the Financial Tribune reports.

The government had collected 5.3 trillion rials ($140 million) from the same source in Q3 the year before. A year-on-year comparison shows that the figure has grown almost 115%.

Earlier it was reported that the treasury would generate 26 trillion rials ($685 million) in auto import taxes from March 20, 2016 to December 20, 2016.

Vehicle Ownership Transfers

In the nine-month period the government took 4.3 trillion rials ($113 million) for services related to the transfer of vehicle ownership, up 16.2% from last year's 3.7 billion rials ($97.3 million).

This accounted for 0.7% of the total government budget during the nine months.

In the budget for last year, the government had predicted that it would raise 5.6 trillion rials ($147.3 million) from this source.

Registration Plates

It is reported that taxes on issuing number plates reached 6.8 trillion rials ($179 million) or 1% of the entire public budget.

The figure showed 83.7% year-on-year increase; the amount was 3.7 trillion rials ($97.3 million) in the same period last year.

The administration had said it expected to make 5.8 trillion rials ($152.6 million) through taxes on issuing number plates in the given period.
