Stone waterway, remains of pond discovered in Isfahan

EghtesadOnline: Stone waterway and remains of a pond with stone and carved surrounding were discovered in the neighborhood of Chahar Bagh region, Isfahan, the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism (RICHT) reported.

RICHT Public Relations Office quoted head of the team for speculation, identification and restoration of the floor of the Abbasi Chahar Bagh Saeed Shahbaz referring to the speculation for the pond said in that place remains of stile with big pieces were found, documentation of which is available in travelogues and footnotes of some books and old pictures.

According to IRNA, he pointed to the continuation of exploration from Chahar Bagh to the architectural remains of Jahan Nama and saying that in this region 10x10 trenches and 5x5 speculations were made in which the Qajar and a small part of Safavid brick carpeting were discovered.

Shahbaz announced the date for the construction of Chahar Bagh Street, based on the Aalam Aray Abbasi History, at 1006 Hegira and added that each of the gardens surrounding Chahar Bagh had a specific name.

“The most famous of these gardens, according to the French traveler Chardin, were Takht Garden, Chelesotoun Garden, Kaaj Garden, Ba-Amir Garden, Toopkhaneh Garden, Nastaran Garden, Fathabad Garden, Pahlevan Hossein Garden, Bolbol Garden, Morghdaran Garden, Khaneh Shiran Garden, Hezar Jarib Garden, Daravish Heydari Garden, and Daravish Nematollahi Garden,” he said.

“Chahar Bagh is one of the historical and main streets of Isfahan which is located between Darvazeh Dolat and Sio Se Pol and is divided into two sections of Chahar Bagh Bala and Chahar Bagh Abbasi,” he added.
