Azerbaijan keen on boosting tourism cooperation with Iran

EghtesadOnline: A senior official at Azerbaijan's Ministry of Culture and Tourism voiced Baku’s willingness to promote cooperation with Iran in the field of tourism.

Director of the Tourism Department at the Azerbaijan's Ministry of Culture and Tourism Aidin Esmiyev made the remarks in a press conference held on the sidelines of the 16th International Exhibition on Tourism opened in Baku on Wednesday.

The three-day event is attended by companies from 22 countries including Iran, according to IRNA.

Referring to an increase in the number of the Iranian tourists visiting Azerbaijan, he said that the reasons behind the growth are further deepening of the two neighboring states’ ties in all fields, including tourism, as well as measures taken by Baku to facilitate issuance of visas.

Over 2.2 million tourists from different countries visited Azerbaijan in 2016, registering an increase by 12 percent compared to the figure for 2015.
