EghtesadOnline: Iranians are honored to have ancient culture and vast knowledge of literature, poetry, and art influential in their storytelling and filmmaking, says a cinema expert.

'The love for their culture and literature is well reflected in the films produced by Iranian moviemakers,” said Maxine Williamson the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) Artistic Director on Monday on the sidelines of 35th Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF).

“One of the most important features of Iranian cinema is its human aspect and addressing spiritual and humanistic issues,” IRNA quoted Williamson as saying.

“Iranian cinema portrays social drama and human problems in a social realism context,” she further added.

“I have followed Iranian cinema since 20 years ago and I know many Iranian directors; however, young directors join the Iranian cinema almost every day,” she said.

The APSA Artistic Director also said that during her stay in Iran, she can select good movies produced in Iran and other Asian countries for the Asia Pacific Screen Award.

The Asia Pacific Screen Awards was first founded in 2007 and is held annually to honor and promote the films, actors, directors, and cultures of the Asia-Pacific region to a global audience.

Iranian cinema has had full participation since the event first founded.

The 35th Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF), started on April 21, is expected to wrap up on April 28.
