Iran, Iraq call for more pharmaceutical cooperation

EghtesadOnline: Iranian and Iraqi health ministers urged expansion of pharmaceutical cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting in Baghdad on Wednesday, Iraqi Health Minister Adilla Hamoud encouraged Iranian companies to manufacture medicine in Iraq.

The Iranian Health Minister Seyyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi, for his part, urged implementation of medical and pharmaceutical agreements, IRNA reported. 

Qazizadeh Hashemi pointed to the existing capacities of the two countries in the field of medicine, pharmaceuticals and medical training, and expressed the hope that the capacities would be utilized and barriers eliminated in order to broaden mutual cooperation.

The Iraqi health minister, for her part, appreciated Iran’s support for the Iraqi nation and government on various grounds and invited Iranian pharmaceutical companies to start their manufacturing activities in her country.

Urging elimination of the barriers on the path to expansion of pharmaceutical cooperation between the two countries, she said, adding, 'Iraq is eager to benefit from Iran’s valuable experience in the field.'

Iran’s Health Minister arrived in Baghdad on Tuesday to visit and talk with Iraqi officials, as well as opening Iran-made medical equipment exhibition in the country.
