Forum underlines Iran,Turkey provincial cooperation

EghtesadOnline: Participants of the third round of talks underlined the necessity for cooperation between neighboring border provinces of Iran and Turkey, especially on economic and tourism.

The 2-day forum held in the city of Van, Turkey, with the collaboration of Turkey Anatoly East Development Agency, Asian Strategic Study Institute, Iran’s Foreign Ministry International and Political Studies Office with participation of economic activists of East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan and Ardebil provinces from Iran and Van province from Turkey.

According to IRNA, the participants held six expert meetings to introduce capabilities, abilities and capacities of their provinces.

In economic session, participants discussed border trade problems.

Also capabilities and trade obstacles between the two countries in the field of transportation, trade agreements, problem of contraband, single-window customs and consulate problems were discussed.

In the meeting, participants underlined offering services concerning preferential trade agreement for businessmen to be increased to 385 items in future.

Other expert meetings dealt with tourism, investment, social and cultural affairs.

Participants in the forum said that targeting $30 billion ceiling for trade exchange between the two countries is accessible.

The third round of meeting on cooperation between Iran and Turkey kicked off on Tuesday in Hilton Hotel of Van city.

The first round of the meeting held in year 2014 in Van and the second round was held in Tehran on December 2015.
