EghtesadOnline: The government has decided to appoint Farhad Parvaresh, CEO of the flag carrier Iran Air, as Iran’s new permanent representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization, according to an inter-ministerial letter.

The letter sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development was attached with Parvaresh’s credentials signed by Foreign Minister Javad Zarif.

Parvaresh started leading the state-owned Iran Air, otherwise known as Homa Company, in September 2009. Since the implementation of the nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, the airline has signed tens of billions of dollars of deals with European plane maker Airbus, its American counterpart Boeing and Franco-Italian aircraft manufacturer ATR to purchase some 200 planes.

The Canada-based International Civil Aviation Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations. It codifies the principles and techniques of international air navigation and fosters the planning and development of international air transport to ensure safe and orderly growth, Financial Tribune reported.
