EghtesadOnline: Iranian delegation headed by deputy foreign minister for Asia and Pacific Affairs, Ebrahim Rahimpour traveled to Afghanistan to attend a multinational peace conference labeled the “Kabul Process”.

Rahimpour will participate in the meeting as Iran’s representative.

According to the Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives from at least 28 countries and organizations including the United States, Russia, China, Pakistan and India along with the United Nations and European Union are expected to attend the meeting.

According to ISNA, the conference started on Tuesday following the speech of Afghanistan’s President.

However, the meeting comes close on the heels of deadly attacks in Kabul, including Wednesday’s bombing that claimed the lives of over 100 people and wounded hundreds more.

The Kabul conference, with serious support of regional and international partners, aims to make the Afghan government the key driving force for reaching peace.

“Kabul Process is meant to reach a consensus with the region and the world for peace in Afghanistan,” said Afghan presidential spokesman Shah Hussain Murtazawi.
