EghtesadOnline: Iran short film ‘Retouch’ directed by Kaveh Mazaheri won Non-Student Competition Awards from 2017 Palm Springs International Short Festival in the US, grabbing Oscar consideration chance again.

According to the festival’s official website, the California-based Short festtival—held 20-26 June--granted the award in the category titled ‘Best Live Action Short Over 15 Minutes’.

According to a social media post for the festival, “All first-place winners in the non-student categories … may be eligible to submit their film to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for Oscar consideration.”

This marks the third time ‘Retouch’ has become eligible to be submitted for 2018 Oscar consideration, ISNA reported.

As the event claims, the 23rd year of the Palm Springs International Short Festival is the largest short film event in North America.

‘Retouch’ was already introduced to the Academy Awards through Poland’s Krakow Film Festival in June as well as the New-York based Tribeca Film Festival in April.

Produced by the Iranian Young Cinema Society, “Retouch” is about a young woman whose husband dies before her eyes and she just observes the tragic scene.
