Non-oil goods exports from Astara Customs Office hits $43m

EghtesadOnline: Director General of Astara Customs Office Rasoul Omidi announced on Saturday that 80,000 tons non oil goods worth 43 million dollars has been exported from this customs office in the past spring, while 64,000 tons goods worth 22 million dollars have been imported in the same period.

He told reporters that the exported goods included agricultural products, chemicals, minerals, food products, cement, plaster, detergent, fabrics, handicrafts, carpet, moquette, textile, shoes and bags, construction materials and plastics, which are mainly exported to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia.

According to IRNA, Omidi said that in the past spring, 18,000 tons of goods worth 120 million dollars were transited from this customs office, which in comparison with the same period of the preceding year, it increased 105 percent in weight and 317 percent in price increased.

He said that most of entering transit goods included wooden instruments, oil products, cotton, synthetics, billets, copper, glass wool, steel sheet, which came from Azerbaijan Republic, Russia, Georgia and Ukraine for destination of Turkey, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.

Omidi said that in the past spring also 65,000 tons goods mainly including electrical devices, automobile, furniture, machinery, sanitation materials, construction materials, plaster, cement, glass ware, textile, chemicals and agricultural crops worth 277 million dollars were transited from this customs office for Azerbaijan Republic, Russia, Georgia and Ukraine, which in comparison with the same period of the preceding year shown an 18-percent rise in weight and 40-percent increase in value.

He added that 30 tons goods worth 75,000 dollars were exported this year through carry-on-luggage trade from this office.

These goods were mainly food products, plastics and agricultural crops which were exported mainly to Azerbaijan.

City of Astara located in northwestern part of Gilan province, neighboring Azerbaijan Republic and is the third frequently used border in the country.
