EghtesadOnline: Mohsen Pourseyyed-Aqaei, the former head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, believes that the move to divide the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development is “untimely”.

Noting that a harmonious relationship and an integrated concept has been formed at the ministry ,thanks to the merger of “roads and transport” with “housing and urban development”, the former official said although their separation might lead to two specialized bodies, it will break the link between roads and urban development, and old problems will reemerge, ILNA reported.

The government is mulling over breaking up the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development into the ministries of “Roads and Transportation” and “Housing and Urban Development”; the Ministry of Sports and Youth into “Ministry of Sports” and “National Organization of Youth”; and the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade into “Ministry of Industries and Mining” and “Ministry of Commerce.”

The bill is now in the parliament, according to Financial Tribune.
