Iran, China launch joint nano-technology program

EghtesadOnline: The opening ceremony of an Iran-China Nano-technology training and experience sharing program kicked off in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province in China on Wednesday.

The China (Guangzhou)-Iran Nanotechnology Training and Experiment Program was attended by the resident foreign diplomats in the Chinese city, the chief executive officers of technology institutes in Guangzhou, along with company representatives, IRNA reported.

Present at the event were also Secretary-General of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) Saeed Sarkar and Iranian Consul General Khalil Shir Gholami.

Sarkar, addressing the meeting, said that over 150 universities and nano- research centers are active in Iran, adding that the Islamic Republic ranks fifth in the area of nanotechnology. 

He went on to say that 34,500 experts and researchers, including 4,100 PhD and 18,800 master’s degree students have been trained in these centers.
Sarkar also said that exhibitions on nanotechnology achievements have been held in all 31 provinces across Iran.

There are array of companies in Iran using the technology in energy, healthcare, water, environment, construction, material, machinery, equipment and textile fields, he said.

Iran exports around 361 of its nano-products to 21 countries, Sarkar said.
