Iranian shipments made up 5% of India’s 1.11 million tons of iron ore concentrate imports during the period, making ICIOC the fifth largest supplier to the South Asian country, Foolad News reported. South Africa was the biggest supplier with 550,000 tons, followed by Brazil with 280,000 tons and Australia with 230,000 tons. According to Steelmint, India’s imports in July were 20 times more than its June record. The country is following a plan to increase crude steel production capacity to 300 million tons by 2030-31 from the present level of about 120 million tons, according to Financial Tribune.
