Speaker urges lifting double taxation with Cyprus

EghtesadOnline: Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Saturday emphasized approval of the agreement for avoiding double taxation between Iran and Cyprus.

According to IRNA, Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with President of House of Representatives of Cyprus Demetris Syllouris, who is here to attend President Hassan Rouhani's swearing-in ceremony.

He also underlined the need to encourage upgrading level of commercial relations. 

He said formation of Iran-Cyprus commerce chamber in Nicosia is a positive move in line with promotion of mutual economic cooperation and it will make the two sides' traders further motivated and acquainted with each other.

He then asked for approval of the agreement for extradition of criminals, on which negotiations were held formerly.

'Campaign against terrorists needs serious endeavor because certain countries, that help them, are to use them as tools and it hinders their suppression.'

Larijani said, 'We helped Iraq and Syria uproot terrorism on their on request.'

Syllouris for his part said it was his second trip to Iran and he was very happy of it and within the interval of his present and former visits, he had made a great deal of efforts to upgrade mutual economic, commercial and parliamentary relations.

'Iran and Cyprus should get acquainted with each other's capacity so that grounds will be available for cooperation.'

He also criticized terrorist operations in parliaments of Iran and of other countries and said, 'We condemn any kind of terrorist operations and we hope that peace and calm will govern the world and absolutely, the EU should play crucial role in that connection.'

He referred to interest of Cypriot traders in upgrading trade relations with Iran and said, 'Ambassadors of the two countries should prepare the ground for meetings and ties of their traders and they will do their best in that connection.'
