VP: Iran's tourism capacity prepares ground for exchanging tourists

EghtesadOnline: Vice-President and Head of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Ali Asghar Monesan talked about Iran's tourism attractions in a press conference on Wednesday.

On the sidelines of the 22nd UNWTO General Assembly meeting in the city of Chengdu, China, Monesan explained tourist attractions of Iran for reporters.

According to IRNA, he invited Chinese media to visit Iran and get familiar with Iran's interesting places and culture.

Monesan also conferred with Secretary General of the UNWTO Taleb Rifai on issues of mutual interest on the sidelines of the meeting.

During the meeting, Rifai said that Iran has potentials to become a tourist destination.

The two sides also underlined development of mutual cooperation between Iran and World Tourism Organization.

Iran's head of tourism organization discussed issues of mutual interest with Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Numan Kurtulmus on the sidelines of the UNWTO general assembly meeting.

Monesan pointed to friendly and strategic relations between Iran and Turkey, and said that existing common historical background between the two countries in all fields of economy, agriculture, energy, culture and tourism paved the way for development of tourism industry between the two nations.

Kurtulmus, for his part, underlined diversity and beautifulness of Iran's tourism attractions, and said that Iran is so attractive for Turk tourists.

He pointed to the desire of Turkish investors for investment in Iran, and said that it is necessary to have joint meetings in this concern.

In general assembly meeting Iran was accepted as member of committee to consider letters of credentials of WTO.

The 22nd General Assembly meeting of the UNWTO kicked off its work in Chengdu, west of China, on Wednesday.
