EghtesadOnline: Head of the Board of the Governors of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) Mehdi Karbasian says export of steel rose to six million tons last year from about 200,000 tons in 2012.

Karbasian told a group of industrialists on Wednesday that his company had to import 10 million tons of steel in 2012, IRNA reported.

'Iranian steel is exported to Canada, Europe and Asia,' said the official, adding that it is too difficult to find a job market.

'Imagine we can win a share in the market from a country like China by expot of 800 million tons a year.'

Elsewhere in his remarks, Karbasian said Iran's steel production capacity rose to 31 million tons frm 22 million tons in the 11th government.
