Petrochemicals output rises by %5 in 6 months

EghtesadOnline: Around 27 million tons of petrochemical products have been produced in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21- September 20), which as compared to its preceding year's corresponding period increased by five percent.

Director for production control of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Ali Mohammad Besaq-zadeh announced the issue on Saturday.

Concerning export of petrochemicals in the first six months of the year, Besaq-zadeh said it increased 12 percent by weight and 8 percent by value as compared to the preceding year's corresponding period.

According to IRNA, he said in the current year 15,000 tons of polyethylene was exported to the countries of Far East.

Besaq-zadeh said exporting products to the African countries have also found better situation.

Petrochemicals export to Europe has also increased and polymer products with engineering grade, which has more added values, are trying to be exported to Europe.

Petrochemical production capacity is now around 62 million tons annually, which by using new plans until the next six months will increase to more than 70 million tons.
